Revolutionary Dream/ Musical Video 6’32”

The idea of the musical video “Revolutionary Dream” is based on the Realist Manifesto (1920) by Naum Gabo and Antoine Pevsner, and the conviction that the Manifesto, published only on the walls of Moscow in 1920, has become a significant inspiration for avant-garde artists living in Moscow in that time, like Malevitch, Tatlin, Rodczenko and Polish avant-garde artists: Katarzyna Kobro and Wladyslaw Strzeminski.

The text is spoken and sung in English, French, Russian and Polish to reflect the four languages spoken by Katarzyna Kobro in which she published her art theory texts. The sound track was composed by the Polish musician and improviser Irek Wojtczak with the recorded voices of the performers. Two video channels show the portraits of the performers in Russian revolutionary style and animations related to the ideas contained in the Manifesto.

Music by Irek Wojtczak. Voices: Magdalena Gruszczynska - soprano, Mikolaj Wojtczak, Ola Kacurovska, Katarzyna Swinarska. Camera: Katarzyna Swinarska, Krystian Grzywacz.
Animations: Krystian Grzywacz. Film editing: Katarzyna Swinarska
